Using Your Own API Keys
Advanced users can optionally use their own OpenAI API key for more control.
Why Use Your Own Key?
- Direct billing from OpenAI (potentially lower costs for high usage)
- Full control over API usage
- Access to latest OpenAI models as they're released
How to Add Your API Key
- Get an API key from OpenAI
- Go to Settings → User Settings
- Find "OpenAI API Key" section
- Paste your API key
- Click Save
Important Notes
- This is completely optional - Warren AI works without your own key
- Your API key is encrypted and secure
- You'll be billed directly by OpenAI for usage
- Free tier users: This doesn't increase conversation limits
Removing Your API Key
- Go to Settings → User Settings
- Click "Remove API Key"
- Confirm removal
- Warren AI will use the default key again
