How are LLCs taxed?

Quick Answer

LLCs are pass-through entities by default — single-member LLCs file Schedule C, multi-member LLCs file Form 1065. An LLC can elect S-corp taxation (Form 2553) to save self-employment tax once profit consistently exceeds about $50,000.
