How do I report crypto on taxes?

Quick Answer

Report crypto sales and trades on Form 8949 and Schedule D as capital gains/losses. Mining, staking, and airdrops are ordinary income on Schedule 1. Always answer Yes to the digital asset question on Form 1040 page 1 if you transacted.
